In search of tranquility, Lucy and I recently visited Yume Japanese Gardens in Tucson, AZ. Yume, I was told, means Dream in Japanese; andlet me tell you, it felt like my time in Yume was a dream! From the meditative walking paths and sitting areas to the wonderfully manicured gardens and pond, Yume is a delight for each of your five senses.
There are five young developing gardens which demonstrate traditional as well as moern and adaptive Japanese gardening techniques. My favorite spot is the Tea House which overlooks a spectacular Koi pond garden. To be honest, feeding the fish was one of the most relaxing things I've done all year!
Certain gardens are designed for strolling and leisure while others are meant for sitting, watching and introspective contemplation. Additionally, special attention was paid to each of the structures to ensure authenticity and tradition. Each structure features bamboo fencing, clay walls, and shoji screens developed with Japanese building techniques.
Yume offers special events, gardening classes and zen demonstrations to the general public. If you are looking for a scenic and intoxicating location for your next event, please consider the Yume Japanese Gardens near Downtown Tucson, AZ.
